Here Are Six Wedding Trends Disappearing This Year And Nine You'll See More Off

Six wedding trends that are declining:

  1. Buffet catering is down- Fewer couples are offering buffet-style dinners because of safety concerns. Couples are going with plated-dinners or even food trucks.

  2. Lavish and over-the-top weddings are on the decline- Couples aren’t looking to drain their bank accounts and will simplify weddings this year.

  3. Couples aren’t asking for as many traditional registry items- Most couples live together before marriage so they already have many household items. Some couples are setting up honeymoon funds or asking guests to donate to charities.

  4. Receiving lines are less common- Receiving lines were becoming less popular before this year and could be finished completely following COVID-19.

  5. Unassigned seating might be done- Even though unassigned seating has become popular, the trend could switch because guests want to make sure they are able to sit with friends and family.

  6. Green and white florals aren’t as trendy- More rich and fall-like colors are becoming more popular.

Here are nine trends you’ll see more of this year

  1. More couples will elope- More couples are settling for smaller gatherings than dealing with headaches and issues from COVID-19.

  2. Livestreaming weddings will continue: While technology improves couples will add livestreaming for guests who can’t travel.

  3. DIY wedding decor is on the rise- Couples are looking to save money and are growing their own wedding flowers and making their own invitations and wedding cakes. The money is being put towards a honeymoon or down payment on a house.

  4. Radiant cut diamonds are increasing in popularity- The elongated square-shaped diamonds are becoming more popular compared to oval-cut diamonds.

  5. Yellow gold is coming back- More couples are asking for yellow gold in their engagement rings and wedding bands.

  6. Bachelor and bachelorette parties at rental homes are on the rise- People are passing up loud nightclubs and crowded bars for more private experiences.

  7. Colorful wedding suits are trending- More grooms are going with burgundy and forest green suits. Summer weddings are seeing grooms wear pastel blue, ivory or blush suits.

  8. Small bridal bouquets will likely replace cascading arrangements- The smaller bouquets allow a bridal gown to shine.

  9. Dried florals are in demand- The dried floral arrangements are more cost-effective than fresh flowers.

Gas Prices Highest in 7 Years

We can expect to pay more to fill up our tanks at least through the end of August. The average price of gas nationwide has climbed to $3.13, a high for the year and up 40% since January 1. And fuel costs aren't expected to drop anytime soon. According to AAA, prices will "rise another 10 to 20 cents at the pump between now and the end of August." The main factors behind the steep climb in gas prices: rising global oil prices, businesses reopening as COVID-19 eases across most of the U. S. and pent-up demand for travel. Tuesday's national average gas price of $3.13 remains below the $3.70 reached in 2014. The highest ever price for a gallon of regular gas was $4.11 in July of 2008. Around the country, Idaho has seen the biggest spike in fuel prices over the last week, with gas costs jumping 10 cents. Other states seeing sharp increases of late: Alaska (up 9 cents); Colorado, Oregon and Washington (7 cents); Ohio, Utah and Wyoming (6 cents); and Montana and Nevada (5 cents). Mississippi has the cheapest gas, at $2.75 a gallon.

Biden Introduces Door-to-Door Vaccination Effort

President Joe Biden announced Tuesday that his administration would step up efforts to get Americans vaccinated against COVID-19 with a new program that would go “door to door, literally knocking on doors,” urging people to get the shots. During his remarks the president said that, “We need to go community by community, neighborhood by neighborhood, and oft times, door to door, literally knocking on doors” to encourage vaccination. Those knocking on the doors will offer information about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine. The administration failed to reach its self imposed goal of having 70% of the nation’s eligible people at least partially vaccinated by July 4th. In a briefing earlier in the day, Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that by the end of this week nearly 160 million Americans would be fully vaccinated. Biden suggested that the unique door knocking approach was needed now that “we are continuing to wind down the mass vaccination sites that did so much in the spring.” In addition to the door to door information campaign, Psaki said other measures would include a “renewed emphasis on getting the vaccines to more primary care doctors,” and increasing access for workers at job sites.

Aaron Rodgers Gets Best of Tom Brady, Phil Mickelson in 'The Match'

Aaron Rodgers and teammate Bryson DeChambeau won the charity golf event against Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson, making it the second time the latter duo has lost “The Match.” Brady and Mickelson lost to Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning last spring. Rodgers played well, making three consecutive birdies at one point on the back nine to help his duo get the nod. Brady, on the other hand, struggled. He spent the months leading up to the event trash-talking Rodgers and Bryson DeChambeau and even got in a few digs at the reigning NFL MVP when Rob Gronkowski called in and Brady questioned if Rodgers really was going to play for Green Bay next season. “The Match” helped raise money for Feeding America and other charities.

TOPICS For SOCIAL MEDIA

What is your worst experience with bad neighbors? --"Apartment building- The upstairs neighbors dog peed on their patio and it dripped down onto me while I was sitting outside reading. I yelled and ran to shower and when I texted them to ask them to take their dog out to pee in future they said it wasn’t their dog and it must have blown over from somewhere else. What?" -- "A bunch of things with my ding-dong neighbor. She had a large dog that hated my older, smaller dog. One day her dog ran into my yard and bit my dog. She did apologize for this one, did not happen again. "Neighbor dumped her lawn clippings into my back yard. Had to ask her to stop and clean up her mess. "She decided to build a fence. No survey. So I paid for a survey of my property. She started building her fence 3 feet over on my property. I had her stop and remove the fence. She was angry and never rebuilt it. "I painted my house. She painted her house, same color. I bought a new car. She bought a new car - same color, same configuration. "There's other minor stuff, but that's enough. Odd person. Very odd." He was handed a Louis Vuitton garment bag by OJ's assistant right as OJ returned from Chicago. None of the cops paid any attention to him as he walked away with the bag. When the "bag theory" was discovered a month later Kardashian claimed to have lost it." --"That Disney thought that Clinton would win the 2016 election so they had already completed the animatronic for the Hall of Presidents, but then Trump won so they sloppily altered the Clinton animatronic to look sort of like him." What’s the wrongest way you ever saw someone eat food? -- "I saw someone eating the filling out of a burrito (not the tortilla part) with STEEL chopsticks, meaning he brought them from home for this purpose. It wasn’t a fusion place either, it was a tex-mex place! Can anyone top that?" -- "I had a teacher in elementary school who would eat a snack during our lunchtime in the cafeteria (she was on lunch duty). It was always a banana wrapped in American cheese slices. Still haunts me to this day." -- "My wife puts spaghetti noodles on a plate and the meat sauce in a bowl. Then eats them separately. I’ve thought about calling the cops."
