PARENTING: Spanking Can Worsen A Child's Behavior And Do Real Harm

Spanking can worsen a child's behavior over time and do real harm long-term. Researchers found physical punishment such as spanking is harmful to children's development and well-being. For example, young children who were physically punished gained fewer cognitive skills than did those who were not physically punished. And those who were spanked threw more temper tantrums, were more argumentative and showed defiant behavior as they got older.

Men Are Sharing Things Other Men Do That Piss Them Off

A Reddit user posed the question, "Men of Reddit, what pisses you off most about other men?". Responses include: 1. "Having to know EVERYTHING, or out-expert each other. When did it become 'unmanly' to say 'I don’t know'?" —saywhaaaaaaa 2. "How some men have no problem going after another man's girlfriend or spouse, but they absolutely lose it if someone goes after theirs." —pcbmale 3. "How guys handle rejection. Lots of women are outright scared to directly turn down a man's advances because some will harass them or get violent. I think it's one of the big reasons ghosting has become such a common thing in dating." —gh0stmanX 4. "When men say they are 'babysitting' their own children." —Bret_B 5. "Older men hate taking instruction from young guys like myself in the trades. Instead of dropping their ego and feelings at the door, they come in with no experience and won't allow me to teach them." —HaoleKid808 6. "Guys who behave desperately around women and won't stop hitting on them even if they clearly aren't interested." —Shiro_no_Orpheus 7. "Guys who become completely different when there aren't women around." —mailordermonster 8. "When a guy sends an unsolicited penis pic because a girl was being nice to him." —Bearded_Wonder0713 9. "Men who think it's 'unmanly' to drink delicious cocktails. Why is it suddenly 'unmanly' to have a sweet tooth when it comes to drinks? I mean, you don't go to someone's wedding and then say, 'Ha! Cake?! No way, I'm a real man.'" —dontwannausemyRN 10. "Men who don't clean their own mess, do their laundry, cook their own food, or act like functional adults, basically." —FingolfinX 11. "When they don’t know how to keep a toilet clean." —ImBadAtUsernames72 12. "WHEN MEN DON'T WASH THEIR HANDS AFTER USING THE RESTROOM! LIKE, WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!?" —thundy90

"What’s a Popular Saying You Don’t Really Understand?"

Reddit user u/bubrubb13 asks: "What’s a popular saying you don’t really understand?" Replies include: "Happy as a clam. Why are clams happy?" “Sh*t eating grin” . Why would eating sh*t ever make you grin?" "Shi*s and giggles. I know what it means but why? What does shi**ing and giggling have to do with doing something for fun?" "The proof is in the pudding." -- "It's actually "the proof of the pudding is in the eating". In other words, it might look very nice, but it's how it tastes that counts." "screw the pooch.. someone said this the other day and I was so confused... That just sounds awful." ""The exception that proves the rule." How exactly does THAT work? I should probably know by now, but I don't."

Gas Prices Rise Again, No Sign Of Letting Up This Summer

Gas prices are on the rise again and it looks like there’s no relief in sight. The national average is now almost 5 cents higher than a month ago and 92 cents higher than this time last year. Experts say Americans should expect to pay even more at the pump heading into July 4th. Demand for fuel is rising and pushing prices to levels not seen since 2014 due to the economy opening back up from the pandemic.

Father Shoots Alleged 'Peeping Tom' Outside His Little Girl's Window

A father shot a man that he claimed was looking into his child's window in Harris County, TX. The little girl reportedly screamed when she saw the man, and her parents came running. Once they saw the man, the parents ran outside, both armed with guns. According to the father, both he and the mother demanded the alleged peeping Tom lay down in the yard and wait for police to arrive. The man did not comply and reportedly charged at the mother, wrestling her gun out of her hands. That’s when the dad fired his weapon, shooting the man three times. The man was transported to the hospital in serious condition. The father said his daughter had complained in the past about seeing someone watching her through the window, but they didn't believe her.

Pfizer and Moderna Recipients May Not Need Boosters

Anyone who received a double dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines may not need a booster shot anytime soon. A new study suggests that the mRNA vaccines provide years of protection, and maybe even a lifetime of protection. Problem is, the virus is ever-evolving, and a significant new variation could make boosters necessary. According to a University of Washington immunologist in Seattle, "Everyone always focuses on the virus evolving—this research is showing that the B cells are doing the same thing. And it’s going to be protective against ongoing evolution of the virus, which is really encouraging.”

"Non-Boomers: What's Your Most Boomer Opinion?"

Reddit user u/coolfreeusername asked: "Non-boomers of Reddit, what's your most boomer opinion?" Replies include: "I don't want my damn refrigerator connected to the internet. It has one job." "Physical keyboards are better." "Teenagers are scary. "Edit: Mainly in groups of 3+." -- "They're scary because they're big enough to do damage and not developed enough to have impulse control." "...literally everything these days has a stupid app that you need to have in order to use it. Everything from kids toys to freakin cars needs some sort of crappy app these days. Why!? What if you plan on having this item for a long while and the app either gets deleted, gets malware, or just doesn't function due to the company not updating it? You would have to throw it out causing more waste in this world. This is planned obsolescence just disguised as being technologically advanced." "There's too many subscription services for sh*t. "It's nice to have access to unlimited movies and TV, but like. For the most part I wind up just watching the same sitcom over and over to decompress after work. I wonder how much I could have saved by just getting 'B99' and 'King of the Hill' box sets instead of paying for Hulu for four years. "And anything where they mail you a box of curated crap every month is absolutely unnecessary..." "Not everything needs to be filmed and put on the internet." "My back hurts."
